Grit’s Summer Reads…..

Who doesn’t love a great “beach read”? Summertime is the perfect time to get lost in that book you’ve had up on the shelf all year. What better way to spend an hour or two on the sand, than under an umbrella escaping into a creepy thriller, an epic love story,  or time traveling back into war-torn Europe; reading is a great stress reliever, it entertains, and often, even, educates.

We asked our Grit Staff what they’ve been reading this summer; as always they did not disappoint.

Our Juris Doctor, aka Dani, is obviously still putting that law school brain through the rigors, she’s currently reading: The Gunslinger by Stephen King, In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, The Serpent of Venice by Christopher Moore, and Inferno by Dan Brown. Yes, all at the same time.

Always ready with a great book recommendation, our front desk star, Abby is reading “My Enemy’s Tears“.

 “Oh boy, not quite a “beach read” by any means”. Abby explains. “It’s about the life and trials of Mary Bliss Parsons, a distant relative of mine who was accused of being a witch in Northampton, MA during the 17th century.  A bit of heritage and history, which I love!

Zoe, another big reader on staff, was chockfull of goodies she’s consumed this season. She “just finished Boys In The Boat by Daniel James Brown & A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman {both awesome!} and just started The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson.

Zoe also says, for those who weren’t totally engrossed by the HBO miniseries,  Big Little Lies is an “awesome summer beach read.”

Although she says they’re “not necessarily a beach read,” instructor and managing director Cassie has started Gabrielle Bernstein’s “The Universe Has Your Back” and Kelly Leveque’s “Body Love“.

Instructor Leigh Beach is reading “Make Your Bed-Little Things That Can Change Your Life and Maybe the World” by Admiral William H. McRaven. We had to ask? “Leigh, you do know how to make a bed, yes?”

She does.

{Leigh’s beautifully made bed ↑}

But she says making it {per this book}  helps her “accomplish” something right when I wake up!” We’re sold.

Always on hand with a great recommendation, Chelsea is reading this summer’s HIT “The Woman in Cabin 10″ by Ruth Ware

What else do we need to get our hands on? What are our Gritties reading? Spill your goodies please. We love hearing from you. What’s currently got you page-turning?

Happy Reading.

Love,

Grit Cycle
