With 100% of all donated funds going directly to the re-homing of abandoned dogs we at Grit Cycle couldn’t think of a better charity to support during the month of August than Barks of Love.

“Barks of Love is the only non-profit canine rescue program in Orange County committed to matching dogs with ideal foster families that will give them the best chance at permanent, loving homes.”

For almost a decade Barks of Love’s dedication to a dog’s welfare has been uncompromised; they work tirelessly to match their dogs with the perfect family. Once a rescue is “adopted”, Barks of Love continues to check-in and maintains the relationship throughout the dog’s life; ensuring it’s living a happy, cared-for life.

Rescued Dogs hold a special place in our hearts at Grit Cycle; our staff is partial to the “rescue”; it’s our favorite breed

Here is some of our staff with their lovable rescues:

Instructor Sara snuggling with her “partner in crime” Gracie.

Who says you can’t rescue pure breeds? Instructor and Managing Director, Cassie, gets her Bichon Frise-fix with her rescued babies, Buddy + Kip.

Barely 3lbs old when she rescued her, instructor Danielle’s first baby girl, Riley, has come a long way from the puppy mill they saved her from.

Our Front Desk star, Zoe had the genius idea to adopt this sweetheart, named “Einstein”, two and half years ago.

Here’s Dani with her beautiful frenchie, Duke; Dani says, “Glenn and I adopted our little French Bulldog a few years ago {from my favorite Viking warrior goddess Vicki Coop .} He also goes by Dukie Bootie, the Bootie-saatva, Meatball, the Cannonball, Dukie Shark, and Bubba. He loves belly rubs, playing fetch, destroying toys, and The Bone Adventure. He is such a lover and an amazing addition to our little family.

OurAndrea is never without her Sadie girl–a staff favorite; Sadie is one of the best behaved pups to visit the Grit Deck.

It didn’t take long for Instructor Molly to fall in deep love her new baby, Tig {named after the Sons of Anarchy character of course;} and although this Tig is a girl, she’s just as feisty and lovable.

Instructor Steph Castro-Woods holds her baby girl “Lady” while they shop for wunder-unders. She and husband, Kyle adopted Lady a little over three years ago whereby Lady immediately stole “both our hearts and the middle of our bed.”

To contribute to Barks of Love we are holding two Karma rides where every dollar raised will go to this all-volunteer, no-kill rescue group.

Our first ride will take place in Monarch Beach on Wednesday August 16th, at 4:15pm with Marisa Wayne +Shannon Roberts.

The second ride will occur in Costa Mesa on Sunday August 20th, at  12pm with Nicci Morris + Lisa Mikelson.

And speaking of dogs, Grit now has a “Dogs of Grit” instagram page…come follow us and see all the four-legged rock-stars of the Saddle Room!

In gratitude,

Grit Cycle
