In today’s edition of our Grit Story we are featuring none other than our own, Danielle Dorr!

Initially, Danielle was our first Gritty Babe on scene; she is now our Director of Fashion; aka she’s the one to thank for all the fantastic finds in the both studio’s shops.

Beloved by both staff and clients, Danielle’s sweet demeanor and sly humor makes her random pop-ins into the boutique a favorite time of day.

Danielle was kind enough to “pop”  into the Outpost to divvy out a bit more of what goes on in her beautiful world.

Give us a the nitty-gritty on you: where you’re from, what you do {if something else besides working at grit,} family, pets, etc…anything interesting/relevant.

CA born and raised, Cosmetology Licensed, {and} I just finished my Certificate for Advance Fashion Design. I am recently engaged and very happy!! We own one cat named Lucy, who has an instagram. I’m typically a dog person but this cat is really pretty and affectionate so she won me over. I really want a bunny.

Do you remember your first class at Grit? What was that like?

YES! It was with Dani and followed by an interview for the front desk.

I was confused as to why I needed different shoes, did not understand the whole “ride to the beat” thing or how on earth to do a push-up while riding. Previous to my first ride at GritCycle, I had been running a lot and felt that Grit was way more fun and easier on my knees. I immediately fell in love with the encouraging instructor, atmosphere and killer music.

How did you move from Gritty Babe to Retail Manager?

I was in the middle of a career change and was asking for as many extra hours as GritCycle would offer. Slowly I started taking on more responsibilities. Working closely with Dani on these extra tasks, we got to talking about how I had just started school for Fashion Design. Then at Grit’s 1st anniversary party, out of the blue, Matt said that they had been talking about having me take over buying and design. From there the role has just continued to grow. =)

Do you have a class or ride that has been your most memorable or favorite?

I have to say that every class is a winner. I feel that each instructor pulls something new out of me and encourages me in a different way BUT the best of the best: (even though I didn’t ride) was when our Grit community rallied together to raise money for my Uncle Wayne who was diagnosed with a brain tumor and thyroid cancer. I can’t think of any other business that offers that much love and support! Seriously, thank you GritCycle.

What was your “aha” moment, experience, ride, situation where you realized Grit was more than a spin class for you?

Day 1. There is just something magical about this place that makes you feel welcome and empowered.

What motivates you/inspires you?
