Happy Summer Gritties!

What better way to ring in the most smokin-hot time of year than with having our most smokin-hot Cassie Piasecki as our Monarch Beach instructor of the month?

Cassie is the original #hotspinchick, and so inspirational we even named a “move” after her: THE SASSY CASSIE!

She leaves only good vibes in her wake, changes lives with her online “movement”, the WOWlife where she guides women into living a more nutritious, glowy, vivacious life, and is a blast to be around.

Cassie’s classes at Grit Cycle pack all the WOW and more: it’s a sweaty dance party that has everyone rushing the stage for autographs post stretch.

We are so jazzed to have this girl on our team; Cassie recently stopped by the Outpost to give us a glimpse into her WOW-life!

Give us the nitty gritty on you:

I’m a born and raised Southern California {Valley} Girl.  I’m a wife to Jack and a mom to Paisley.  My rescue pups, Kip and Buddy, think I’m the best dog walker.  In addition to teaching at GRIT, I’m a Pilates Instructor, personal trainer and a board certified Holistic Health Practitioner.  It’s the long way of saying that I’m your biggest cheerleader.  I want everyone, especially women, to live their most healthy lives.  I do this through teaching fitness and with my online nutrition course.

What brought you to the grit podium?

I came in and took a class just a few weeks after the Costa Mesa studio opened.  When the lights went off, the blue lights turned on and the music started, I turned to my friend and said, “I must teach here!”

Do you have any pre-class rituals?

When I’m on my way to teach in Monarch Beach, I listen to my playlist and dance in the car.  Yes, I get looks. When I do, I just dance harder.  Most days, if I can find a place to tuck it, I have a tiny sunstone somewhere in my clothing.  One time, it fell out of my bra, and someone told me they thought it was a lozenge.  I also keep an Amazonite stone in my microphone bag.  It inspires me to be a good communicator and leader.  Every Friday, I wash all of my microphone puffies and “smudge” the puffies, my microphone and my iPad with palo santo.  It sends good vibes to them!

What sets you apart from the rest of the Grit instructors; what makes your class unique?

I’m the instructor with the candles.  Whaaaat?  I like to coordinate my outfits with them.

What do you do when you’re not getting gritty?

If I’m not getting gritty, teaching some other type of fitness, or doing my own workout, I love to dance and take random classes when I can, I listen to Doctor Radio on Sirius like it’s my third job, I take workshops on interesting-to-me topics {Reiki, meal prepping, goal setting} and shop.  I like to shop.  A lot.

What’s your favorite “move” on the bike and why?

I adore a sexy, strong, and sweaty tap back and push up during the song after weights.  Oooh!  I really like a dance-y figure 8.

What is your favorite food?

Chips and Guacamole from La Sirena in Laguna Beach or a gaufre from MEERT in Paris, France.

Who is your celebrity crush?

I don’t call them celebrity crushes; I call them Internet Boyfriends.  Dr. Mark Hyman, a functional medicine doc, is my bae.  Gary Vaynerchuck and I have been going strong for about eight years now.  He just doesn’t know it.  Leo La Porte, the Tech Guy, you know..from AM radio? He can move in anytime and trick out my life with electronics.

What song instantly gets you dancing?

You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC

Do you have a secret talent?

I’ll tell you the one thing I cannot do…SING.  I can pretty much do anything and everything I put my mind to but cannot sing.  It’s the one talent I wish I did have.

What would your last meal be?

A baguette from PAUL in Paris with a stick of butter.  That is all.

In high school what were you most likely to….?

Be at home studying or watching television.  I hadn’t peaked yet and was on a tight leash.

What was the last text you sent?

To my husband telling him to “Be Safe.”  He’s driving to the airport in San Francisco.

Who would play you in a movie?

Sara Jessica Parker.

What’s your biggest guilty pleasure?

Sitting in my backyard in the middle of the day on a Wednesday reading magazines.

When you’ve had a long day how do you de-stress?

I take a hot shower, put on tons of scented body oil, let my hair dry on its own, eat dinner on the couch, watch the Netflix series du jour with my hubs and take Instagram videos of my dogs.

Favorite color?

White.  It IS a color.  It’s my fave color.

What three things are always in your grocery cart?

GoMacro bars, avocados, and hummus.

Beauty products you can’t live without?

Lumion Skin Oxygen Serum and as many body oils as possible.

What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?

Work harder than everyone else no matter what.  Learn to budget money earlier than later.  Sugar is not your friend.

Best movie quote ever?

OMG.  In my house, I quote too many characters from the Charlie’s Angels movie with Cameron Diaz. I have a lot of favorites and taken out of context, wouldn’t be that funny.  They are, “I love tickets!” and “Starfish? Where are you going? Starfish, are you going swimming? See not funny.  I like this one, too.  It’s funnier.  “I signed that release form, so you can just feel free to stick things in my slot.”

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I’m really shy, conservative and introverted.  STOP.  It’s true.  GRIT is where my alter ego comes out to play.  I don’t know where she was hiding for so long and she doesn’t come out many other places.

Do you do any other forms of workouts?

When I’m teaching, that is YOUR workout.  It’s not mine.  You bet I workout.  I run 2-3 times per week with a buddy at the beach, I take Pilates classes twice a week, I lift weights 2-3 times per week at the big gym, and I take at least one indoor cycling class per week.  If I can, I’ll add a dance class or boxing.
