April Karma: Second Harvest Food Bank

Much of our discussions involve nutrition and food:

What are the best foods and nutrients to put into our bodies?

What are the best foods and nutrients to put into our bodies for fuel, for recovery, and for performance?

What should I eat  specifically for fitness, maximum efficiency; what should eat after riding in the saddle room even, etc.

But in reality there are so many people, children even, right here in our community, whose minds, too, are on food, but for completely different reasons.

HUNGER.

They are hungry and they cannot afford to eat.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County is attempting to end their hunger.

We, at Grit Cycle, are committed as well, and are grateful to join in this cause by uniting with The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County during the month of April.

335,000 people in Orange County are at risk of hunger.

One in five children is at risk of hunger.

45% of seniors can’t afford basic necessities.

Last year alone The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County provided over 20 million meals to those who are hungry.

Through the process of food drives, fundraising, harvesting, education and advocacy for the hungry, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County tirelessly strives to end hunger in Orange County.

If you would like to join us in supporting The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County we will be holding two Karma Rides this month:

The first will be held on Sunday April 2nd at 12:00pm with Allie and Kaitlin in Costa Mesa.

And we will round out the month on Saturday April 29th at 12:00pm with Maddy and Jess in Monarch Beach.

Don’t forget to purchase your “KARMA” bikes before you book.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

See you in the Saddle Room.
