In an effort to “make spirits bright” we thought we’d send you on your holiday weekend with a joyous recipe to help put a little more fa la la–la-LAH  in your step.

Our resident mixologist, party planner to the stars, and bike #19 goddess, Debbie Springer concocted up a special, festive libation just for us Gritties:

The Holiday Grit-ini!

Made with the seasons tastiest fruits, the Holiday Grit-ini will be a delicious addition to your Christmas, New Year’s, or  Holiday gathering.


And because we hate empty, wasted calories as much as the next person, we made sure this cocktail was chock-full of fresh, healthy ingredients.

Starting with pomegranate juice. Rich in vitamin C, not to mention high in anti-oxidants and fiber, pomegranates are classified as an anti-inflammatory super-food. Studies have shown that drinking pomegranate juice can help protect against major diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s Disease.


Next is cinnamon. Not only do we love this warm spice on everything this time of year, but it keeps us healthy too.

Like pomegranates, cinnamon is high in anti-oxidants, meaning they help minimize cell damage which can lead to disease. Cinnamon is rich in anti-inflammatory powers, therefore it repairs tissue damage and fights infections; which this time of year is vital. Cinnamon also lowers blood sugar; a helpful effect when we’ve been double dipping into the egg nog and Christmas cookies.


The Grit-ini can easily be made non-alcoholic too. Just omit the Vodka and Peach Schnapps and you have a tasty virgin version of this festive cocktail!


Et voila! The Grit-ini is served!
