We are full-throttle in the grip of the fall season.
What better way to celebrate our October Instructor of the Month, Lisa Mikelson, than to let YOU fall a bit deeper in love her too. We are offering discounted classes and a little Q + A  where we get to know Lisa beyond the Saddle Room.

Thanks for stopping by The Outpost miss Lisa, your sell-out classes leave us breathless and reflective, we are so grateful to have you in the Grit Family.

Give us the nitty gritty on you please.

I believe that life is about finding the good and trusting in the journey.  I’m awkwardly goofy, occasionally sarcastic, I’m compassionately honest, a giver of tough love, and loyal to the core… When I’m off the podium, I’m either with the hubby, my friends, or mentoring a new instructor.

What brought you to the Grit Podium?
I’ve been with GRIT from the moment the barn doors opened and I’ve loved every moment.  My favorite thing about GRIT is the incredible community.  That room isn’t about competing. It’s about building each other up and supporting each other through the sweat and through the tears.

Do you have a pre-class ritual?
Yes! I do the exact same thing before every single class… and it’s a secret.

Do you have a secret talent?
Cooking. My family jokes that I should have been chef.

What’s your favorite move on the bike?
A push-tap… whether it’s light and quick, or heavy and slow, I love this move because it works your whole body.

What’s your favorite song to teach?

What book are you currently reading?
I’m currently, completely absorbed in Daring Greatly by Brené Brown.

What song instantly gets you dancing?

What three things are always in your grocery cart?
Synergy Kombucha, coffee, and coconut water.

What is your trademark song ?
What We Started (feat. Bullysongs) by Don Diablo, Steve Aoki, Lush and Simon.  I get goosebumps every time we ride to this in the saddle room.

What would your last meal be?
Oh man…. Well, if it’s my last meal then I gotta go balls-to-the wall.  You ready for this?  Bison Tenderloin from Piñons, Lobster mac-n-cheese from Shuck, charred brussel sprouts from Cucina Enoteca, a wedge salad from the ARC, a big glass of Silver Oak, and Butter cake from Mastros for dessert.  Sorry, but that might be the best last meal ever.

What beauty products can’t you live without?

What advice would you give your 20-year-old self?
Life is SO MUCH more than the petty shit, so don’t overthink it and let things go.  Experience the ups and don’t be ashamed of the downs.  Never let anyone make you feel like less of a human, because you are worthy regardless of others opinions.

Do you have a favorite quote?
“The ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
~Steve Jobs
